Not really a fine woodworking project but I'm quite proud of it. My wife wanted some shade on the deck for our sons to play under and after having one of those steel pipe jobies collapse last year this I what I dreamt up for this year. Productive way to spend $120 and 6 hours.

Nice project! Did you sew up the canvas to fit, or find something readymade?

I'm curious as to why you included the horizontal crosspieces. It seems that if the rim pieces are bolted to the columns, the frame would be strong enough to support the pyramidal "roof".

My son has been talking about something like that over his deck; I'll have to show him your pictures.

the cross pieces were pretty much to add something interesting to look up at when you're under it.lol It did add some stiffness to the framing too which was a plus.

Will it be easy to remove covering B4 snow falls?

It will be very easy, just remove the tie downs and pull it off. Should make a nice place to hang the bird feeders during the winter too.
