All I know is that I seen it for sale at the lumber yard. I like how it is a darker wood, but I would not want to waste money on a bunch of wood, that I might not like.
Lyptus is an engineered wood. Meaning it has been engineered to grow at a faster rate to yield more and replenish faster. I believe it is South American and from what I seen and read, it is a cousin to Mahogany. It has also been referred to as the "poor man's mahogany" I have looked at lyptus boards at my supplier and it does have the characteristics of mahogany but it doesn't seem to be quite as hard. It was also about 2.00/bf cheaper than real mahogany.
My customer is insisting on using it and already purchased the wood for the project. I'm tongue and grooving it, I'm hoping it doesn't splinter much or kill my bits.
