New to this forum and hoping for some help.

I'm in the planning stages of building a(n upholstered) bench for my son's bed--the long end. It's got to be 6 feet long and will have 3 roll-out storage ottomans fitting underneath. My problem is that my kid is a BIG boy, and I need some suggestions to make sure that the top is sturdy enough to support 200+ lbs.
I figured the bench to have no bottom at all, so the ottomans can roll out freely. Any ideas?

Thanks.

I would agree with MinConst. Except I would dado the stretchers into the bottom of the bench and glue and screw the in.

Thanks, all.
The whole thing needed to be redesigned--He lives in an apartment and wouldn't be able to thread a 6 x 2 x 2 solid piece through the stairs and hallway. So now I have to make 6 separate pieces and bolt or clamp them together.
