Just want to get rid of the plastic mat under my computer desk and replace it with a floor mat/section. I would like a thick mat/floor section that would cover the carpet. Thickness of maybe 1" to 2". Just came to me and gonna think it through. Any plans out there already?

You might take a piece of 1/2" plywood and trim the edges and finish it or since you don't mind the thickness install some wood flooring on the plywood. Be sure to finish the underneath side to prevent warpage.

That was also my first thought. Keep it as thin as possible.

Thank you both for your thoughts. I never did think about stubbing my toe ha. Just really want wooden floor around my computer because that is were I spend a lot of time and it gets pretty dirty and I just hate carpet.
