Length-Long Mortises/Grooves
Hi All,
I'm in the process of building a platform bed and had a general question regarding mortises. I've had no issue making smaller mortises for the headboard and footboard using a drill press and a chisel. However, the upper rail on the headboard require mortises that span the entire length of the top and bottom (about 60"). Could this be achieved on my table saw? And if so, could someone please provide guidance? It would seem to be a rip through the middle while the board is standing but (and forgive me if this sounds dumb) would I have to remove the blade guard so it goes all the way through?
