So I was planning on doing new cabinets for my kitchen. My neighbor asked me if I could do some for him over the weekend.

Question for any cabinet guys. I know there are a lot of computer programs out there to design a kitchen. Would I be ok doing it old school without those? Just measuring up and figuring out which cabinets to make?

Of course you can draw it up by hand, computers have only been in wide spread use for about 20 years, cabinets have been around a little bit longer. I hand draw plans all the time. And unfortunately sometimes I have to use plans drawn by the customer. Just remember when drawing them up your pencil line represents a three dimensional board. That's the problem I see most often with plans drawn up by the customer they don't allow for the thickness of the materials. They'll have a 6' cabinet with two 3' openings. Duh.
