Is this a decent jointer for the price? Looks like it needs a little love, but for $50? I used to be an electrician by trade, so I am not worried about the electrical issues.

missing guard is something that would need ro resolve. i know some guys have made them of wood, but...? oem would be nice.

I have that same jointer and I paid $100 for it and thought that was a steal.

Multiple rounds is about all it has going for it against a Grizzly. The Alaskan Troopers carry a 12 Gauge with buck shot and or slugs if I remember correctly. It's one of my favorite cable shows actually anything Alaskan...the Plichers what a family living on the homestead. :yes:

Couldn't justify getting a jointer for $700 for edge jointing. Figure I will continue with my router table setup until I find a decent deal. I did manage to buy a dewalt 734 thickness planer from lowes though. I have no other way to thickness plane.

use a straightening jig, much faster

I made one like this and I've used it hundreds of times. Snap, snap, snap, rip, unsnap etc. done, next one....
