Sounds like lugnuts in a hubcap, takes about 30 seconds for the spindle to turn at almost performance speed, but still rattles like crazy. Fix or replace. Griz 452. Any ideas?

WOW , That's a lot of noise! If your sure it's the motor, then I would think it's beyond repair, and a new motor is called for. You could take it to a local elec. shop and see what they say, but sounds like it is shot to me.

Have you run the motor without the belt attached? Sans pulley? Sounds like one of the pulleys may have lost its key and is slipping/rattling. If so, square and woodruff keys are available at most hardware stores. It may be sitting at the bottom of a pile of sawdust. Let us know what you find. (Replacement pulleys are easy to find also.) Luck to ya.
