Want to buy one of these. The difference being about $635 for the 1HP and $850 for the 1.25HP. Is the extra .25 HP worth it? Also the resaw capability is 12" for the deluxe and I think 6" for the basic. Any thoughts?
for less than that $850 jet, you can have a good 2 spd BS with a 1.5 hp dual voltage motor and 13" of resaw in a steel frame BS. when wood magazine last tested 14" BSs, i believe the 10-325 got a top tool award. jet finished out of the money.
and speaking as a former jet owner, i sold a disappointing used 18" jet for more than it cost to replace it with an excellent used 10-340 (rikon 18" BS). IMHE, the rikon is a substantially better product all the way around.
