This my first post and would like some input about whether knotty Alder is strong enough to build rocking chairs? I've got a good supply of this wood and would love to be able to use it for my chair project. Any thoughts? Thanks
Depending on the design alder would probably be strong enough for the chair part as long as the knots weren't too big. I believe I would use maple or cherry for the rockers though. I think alder is a little too soft for that purpose.
