I made this for my wife as a Valentine's Day gift. She loves the beach. I also proposed to her at the beach in '09. So it seemed like a good idea for a gift. I love the way it came out. She seems to like it quite a lot as well.

I appreciate the comments, guys. I really love the way this piece turned out.

Cool beans. I love the colors, and of course the design.

Easy to see why the bride loves it.

How big is the piece?

It's a hair under 9" diameter. The colors, you may be surprised to hear, is diluted (with acetone) fingernail polishes (enamel)! Well, all except for the tree trunk and sand: Those are diluted acrylics. I diluted all the colors so that they will act more like a stain or dye and allow the wood grain to show. The wood is pine, by the way.

Yes, this is a wall hanging. I put a sawtooth hanger on the back. It now hangs in our family room, to the left of our fireplace.
