I'm working on a nightstand and installing a stretcher at the bottom just below the bottom shelf connecting the two panels. I'm using through mortise and tenon joinery. I'm taking a class and the explanation I'm getting from the teacher is a bit complicated and seems like too many steps. Does someone have a technique that is simple and quick without using any test pieces. I am being required to use a dado set up in the shop tablesaw. Thanks for your suggestions.

I didn't get your message until after I had gone to school last night. I am back Thursday and can take a picture then. I was successful in my installation of the stretcher last night. The first time doing this was rather time-consuming I look forward to hearing how you would do it after I post some pictures.
