So I went to an auction this morning and I won the bid on this lathe. It's a Delta 46-700 with 8 turning chisels. I got it for $50.
I know it's not the greatest lathe, but I couldn't pass it up at that price.

Has a little surface rust on the bed, but it's in good shape. I'll clean it up and post it.

So stay tuned for noobie questions later on when i start turning.

Thanks Dave, but I don't want you to get your hopes up on some beautiful turnings at this point, but I did try it out.
The tools need to be sharpened a bit.
Here's what I tried.

You like? Laughing!!!!!
I'm striping it down to clean off the surface rust then sharpen the tools.
I'm pretty excited about it so far. A little intimidated but confident.
Thanks for looking.

Thanks for all the encouragement guys.
Just spending a couple hours cleaning it up and it's all pretty now.
I don't think the person used it that much.
I found a card with serial # and purchase date
December 1999.
Thanks for the link on sharpening Dave.

I'm having problems with watching those videos Dave. Must have something to do with the new update I did on my iPhone.

As far as your jig goes, that looks complicated.
Very sophisticated to say the least. Maybe I'm still new to the wood turning. Lol

I'm eager to learn more as soon as I get these tools sharpened and find the time to turn something.
What's a good thing to make for practicing?
Thanks for all the support guys.

A mallet is a good beginner project ;-)
That's what I was thinking of, but with all these mallet swaps and then Dave Paine making me a separate carving mallet, I now have 5 of them.
Laughing!!!!
But why not one more to make it even.
Thanks.
