Identifying old barn wood

I think you have it identified correctly in the title. I agree, it's old barn wood. :rolleyes:

It may be several different species, based on the size and function (timbers versus siding for example). You may get more accurate guesses, if you can take a sample piece and expose a fresh surface, (smooth cut or sanded) of both face grain and end grain of the piece(s) to be identified.
