Folks, I need your help again. This week-end I managed to burn the motor on my old planer,:furious: (Delta 12", about 15 years old). Does any one know if I can get a new motor, or do I chuck the old thing and buy new? If I buy a new one, I will need some suggestions. I don't need a heavy industrial thing, I am just a small time wood butcher.
Thanks for any help.

Not knowing for sure but I bet you could almost certainly get one. Even if Delta says they don't have one.

I have a really old planer that Penn State used to sell. A Super 125 that has a burned up motor. They quit selling them around 1994 or som, ething. They still have the motors available for around $90. Alot less than what I paid for the planer which was around $600.

I would get a new planer if yours is that old. I think you have definitly got your money's worth with 15 years of service. I think those planers that are 13 inch and below are not worth repairing at a certain point compared to some of the stand alone planers 15 inch and above.

If you can afford it, get a new one and you will probaly not look back.

Cilone and Texas Timbers,
You were right on the money. Delta does have replacement motors. But they are expencive as a new planer. I was able to find a brand new Dewalt, at the local toy store. Cilone you were so right. After getting it set up, I am like a kid with a new toy. This thing does everyting but plug in the coffee pot. I should have upgraded years ago. You guys did me a big favor.
