Discussion Starter #1
I bought my first lathe yesterday and I don't know what kind of quality I bought. So I ask everyone on here it is a Vicmarc VL 100 lathe for 250.00. It looks like new I can tell it hasn't been used hardly any.

I was wondering if this is a good starter lathe and did I get it for a fair price??

Thanks
Josh

I'm not familiar with that specific model but the Vicmarc name is very respectable in the realm of Woodturning. It's probably safe to say you did ok.

Nice looking for a start---the only one needs to be happy is YOU.
(After all a tool is only worth what you pay for it--paraphrased from dealing with antiques/art)
Get after it!

If purchased new, that chuck is worth almost what you paid for the whole thing!
Except we don't know if Big OB got a chuck with his lathe ... the photo is not the actual lathe he bought (just a sample photo Manuka Jock found online someplace.)

If it did come with that chuck, then you're 100% right - it's a steal!
