I'm planning to stack several pieces of yellowheart to make a turning that will hopefully turn out looking like a beehive. I had originally planned to make each layer of multiple segments to minimize end grain, but now that I've got the yellowheart in hand, the endgrain looks pretty mild, so I'm less nervous about turning it and thinking about making each layer out of a single solid piece. Also, I think I can rout most of the shape on a router table and minimize the amount of actual turning I will need to do. Can anyone who has turned yellowheart please comment on how much trouble I'm asking for?
