If you’re like me and don’t have room for every stationary tool or the money to buy them. If you have a router table and in a fix to straighten short parts for raised panels, etc use your router table. Many build a router table as one of their first shop projects.

As I mentioned in the thread planer vrs jointer it depends on the individual, I went through a period in my life where my wife and two kids were my priority so splurging on tools was not an option unless absolutely necessary.
If there is a good local source of S4S material the DIYer could likely get by quite well with a router table like that to true up edges with the added ability to profile the material.

I can go to Metro hardwoods and they sell S3S and I can see , check and purchase useable boards. If I go to a sawmill I buy in the rough, can’t really see what’s going on with grain, have to process it and hope for tye best..

I think I’m going to repair one Dewalt 625 and put the other in the router table. In the past I would drop a 3 hp router in to do the crowns on raised panel doors, but I haven’t done crown doors in years. I use Rousseau plates in all my router tables so I can swap between them.

Question:
How did you build that nice router table without using a table saw?
Seems like that would be all but impossible, and would prove my point about getting a table saw first, before other woodworking machines.
And BTW, it's also the opinion of just about every credible You Tube woodworker out there.
They don't call the table saw the "center piece of every wood shop" for no reason.
