I am looking for a DIY method of hollowing the small pieces I make raging in size from about 1/2" to 3". I have experimented with a little bit of tool making in my metal working days but not know too much. I have produced a decent quality boring tool with means I have from a modified drill bit, leaving the cutting edge on the flute so it works sort of like a holling tool should but not what I had hoped. I find my small bowl gouge works well but is a bit of work to maintain a consistant inside diameter. I am looking to stear away from my current type of work and focus more on larger decorative pieces and vessels. If anyone can be of help I would much appreciate it.
Here is some of the work I produce...
