This is correct. I believe the own Stanley as well. Mark
Stanley if the mother. They own DeWalt, Porter Cable, Black & Decker, Delta, Bostitch, and who knows what else. There's a DeWalt factory service shop by the house, that's how I learned this, I would of never guessed this. I knew DeWalt and Black & Decker was linked.

There's something about a cheap a$$ company like Black and Decker holding companies with quality tools. I don't get it. Hope they don't dumb down and cheapen my beloved Porter Cable. Al Nails only hold themselves.
I would of never thought that they owned all that. I also don't think the will screw with Porter Cable. Did you now that DeWalt is really Black & Decker professional? The couldn't sell Black & Decker professional, so the switched it to DeWalt. I always thought that Stanley was the competitor of Black & Decker.

At one time Rockwell owned PC. They tried to compete with B and D on non professional level by putting out a lesser quality tool and nearly lost it all. Stanley B and D owns everything but a tooth paste company. If you haven't noticed the 690 does have a new thinner top and a really crappy switch. Word on the street is everybody is complaining about the switch. Al Nails only hold themselves.
.

The only thing I own by Porter Cable is there dove tail jig, 4212. When in college one of my instructors told us that we should buy the 690. But I could not afford. I have always wanted one, till now. :( I do not like it when companies play with the quality tools, to make another side of the company to look better. I guess I should start looking at buying a 690 from an older man that has hardly ever used it.
