Help with choosing a table saw

Hello everyone!

Thanks in advance for any help! I am looking to finally upgrade my taskforce (dont laugh) benchtop table saw to something that will actually cut straight. Being able to change the blade will probably be nice too, mine has a very short arbor nut that I may need to original wrench to remove. I am a hobbyist but frequently run into the need to make 1-3 ft rip cuts. I am also an obsessive diy-er, so anything I get I would very much like to be upgrade-able. I've seen many plans for adding longer fences and built-around tables for some of the more popular saws like the Delta Model 10.

Where I run into trouble is finding places to purchase accessories like riving knives, blade guards and table extensions, and even more basic in figuring out whether or not I can even use them with a given saw.

Would those who have the time and inclination to help be willing to take a look at the following craigslist link and see if this table saw fits the bill?

By the way I've been trolling this site for table saw info for weeks, glad to finally be posting!

You can buy a canvas snap-on bag for the sawdust at harbor freight. Also, you can fabricate a piece of wood or plastic for the hole in the back. I did both to a craftsman TS I had a while back and it worked great to keep the sawdust under control.

....I may try it out with steel wool first as I have 3 diff grades of the real and much more manly versions of this stuff handy already......
this worked very well for me when i refurbished a unisaw

as for that 2424, it's a first rate saw and carries a lifetime guaranty against manufacturing defects that is irrespective of saw ownership (what that's worth on a 10+YO saw i'll leave up to the buyer). did it come with the splitter/blade guard assembly? regarding the TS sled, this plan is fast, easy and dead on ba!!s accurate:

toolguy you did an amazing job there, did you finish or stain/paint the iron in any way after cleaning? I apologize if that's in the video, I'm at work and can't watch yet!

And no, it didnt. I was told by Ridgid I can go to Home depot and order these items though.

For $150 I'm pretty happy. A little better than that actually, I got a 30x25' heavy duty tarp to cover it on the way home for free! I've paid $50 for slightly smaller versions of heavier duty tarps like that. To do any better I think I'd have had to wait patiently for many more months than I already had.

based on my experience with HD, i'd frankly be surprised if that would work. but they are usually available on ebay, like this:

cared for properly, that saw is likely all a hobbyist will ever need. the included mobile base, while not the best, is certainly adequate to moving that saw around the shop. here's hoping it provides you with years of trouble free service.
I appreciate all the help, everyone has been very forthcoming.

Sometimes home depot employees do leave a little to be desired, but hopefully one of ridgid's other distributor can help if I can't find parts on ebay.

Thanks for all the tips toolguy and everyone else! Might start a thread and document my restoration process.
