I just purchased this vise from a Habitat Restore and I am curious about the age and make. I am guessing it came out of a school shop. Any help is appreciated.

No marks of any kind that I have found.
7"x3.5" jaws, 10" open, 33.5 lbs
A quick release mechanism I can not find anywhere on the web.

looks custom-made for a specific application. there was probably only a few made. I remember seeing something similar to it in our sheet metal shop before it was dismantled.

I am leaning towards metalwork of some kind as it's original purpose now, as there are no holes in the front jaw to attach a liner.

I'll probably drill a pair of holes in the jaw while I have it apart for cleaning. It will make a nice end vise for my up coming Nicholson bench.
