Hello from Canada

My name is Gerry kiernan, from Powell River, British Columbia, and I look forward to hearing from any fellow woodworkers on this site. I have no real specialty, as I am pretty much a generalist, but I am interested in cabinetry, carving, and pretty much anything that you can do with wood to make something interesting, usefull, or beautiful.

Regards to all

Hello from Canada

Hi Guys

Thanks for the welcome.

I have so far done one carving, a spirit face about 41/2 feet high by about 11/2 feet wide which I carved from a west coast red cedar slab found along the dike in Richmond. It was a combination of chainsaw and other methods to carve.

I followed the instructions in one of my woodcarving magazines, and was quite pleased with the first effort.

I have some other found slabs, which I will do when I get myself settled in.
When I get some more pieces I will take some pics and post them on the site.

Right now I am workng on getting settled in our new home [as of March first], and am working on building some bookcases from hemlock, which my brother gave me.

Thanks again.
