Wanting to do some small refinish projects to get in some practice for some larger more time consuming things down the road. I believe this to be curly maple although some of you expert wood guys may correct me and say it is curly ash, or maybe another type. Either way it has the figure I like and this is how it turned out. First 2 pics are before and the rest are after the rework. I didn't do anything to the head itself but just for FYI it is stamped "Evansville Tool Works Test-D". Thanks for looking,........

That looks really nice Aaron.

I'd just sharpen it and leave the head with the existing patina.

It has a nice vintage look as is.

Thank you guys for the comments,......at the moment I have no plans for the hatchet head itself. I do have a pretty good pile of axe/hatchet heads to refurbish but haven't gotten that far yet and will probably do a few "no names" first. I have my 2nd "curly wood/tiger striped" refinish done as of today,...........try and get some pics up later tonight hopefully.
