Ther is an outfit in Canada, called Lee Valley Tools. www.leevalleytools.com, which supplys some really nice hardware. It is not cheap, but the selection is excellent. If you go to their site you can ask for a catalog. It is free.
The answers so far are good sources, for moderately priced brasses you can visit Horton Brasses, Inc (www.hortonbrasses.com) or for less expensive brasses take a peek at Paxton Hardware (www.paxtonhardware.com)
I realised I was a tool/fixings junkie when I found how much I enjoyed just browsing through the screwfix (UK) catalogue. This company always gives a page or two of technical info before each section.
Service is usually next day and they have technical staff available to talk over details re each tool/fixing etc.
Just putting together my next order at the moment.
