Would like to know if there are any opinions on this lathe. I have been looking to buy and the price is low.

It's a good lathe, I had one for a little while before I got a killer deal on my current one. It's a JET clone and people have said that side by side they are nearly identical EXCEPT the motor on the JET is of relatively higher quality. If you're starting out, I can't see a better lathe to buy than looking on Craigslist.

Seriously though, look on craigslist first.

I turned my first several hundred bowls on an even cheaper HF lathe and my most recent several hundred were turned on this one. The motor burned out almost immediately, but I didn't much care as it was underpowered anyway and I just added an motor off to the side.

By the way, $269 is WAY too much ... I got mine for $150 ... you just have to look for a sale, which they have fairly often.

I would buy one if I didn't already have one. Harbor Freight posts 25% off coupons in my local newspaper. Do you need one?
Yes, if you don't mind Steve. I will take a coupon...

I'm in Indiana...

Well....----that's a bit far for me to go, & shipping would eat any benefit in price. Oh well.
But it is a decent starter--just watch the locking handles, they strip easy.
