Greetings. I'm a former Va Tech college student, transferring to another college. My current hobbies are cars and guns. Both of those hobbies end up adding to my frustrations instead of making life enjoyable. I'm not giving them up by any means, but I have found it near impossible to have good ground breaking discussions with strangers about either one. And in my experiences, that is something I am definitely looking for in a hobby.

So now I want to get into woodworking. For now, I want to mainly use hand tools only. Ideally, I'd like to make a longbow, build a canoe, shape a baseball bat, etc, etc. I have some minor experience with wood working, but nothing amazing.

Two questions:

What basic tools will I need?

Any good readings to get me started?

I don't see any "sensible" gun discussions there. And to be more specific, I meant readings on woodworking. But I am seeing some good bow and arrow making material over there...
