Your wife wants it as a gift (of her choice) for your granddaughter. I suggest that you tell her it is a good choice and say no more. Undoubtedly it is made of particle board. But, your granddaughter will grow up and it doesn't need to be a family heirloom.

it will need to be taller with at least 6 drawers. I actually want colored container that will just slide in..Is you wife OK with storing your grand daughter in that? It looks like those partitions in the drawer may have to be removed. I'd buy something a bit larger so as you grand daughter grows, she will still fit.😁😁
