Went to a buddies today to get some solid chunks to make some Christmas gifts from. (Post to come later). Ended up helping him cut two large slabs off a 235 years old oak tree he's had for about 4 years on his land. One slab was almost 4" thick and the other was about 5 1/8". For living within city limits, he's got about 3/4 acre of downed trees. There's even some stacked on black walnut, Cherry, and others. No excuse for nothing to turn if your part of our Woodturning club.

Also picked up some hard maple and some purpleheart for a jewelry box I'm making for my daughter.
