It was cooler this evening so I HAD to satisfy the urge to turn---feel much better now. Started out with a Huisache (meaner cousin of mesquite) that had lots of voids/bark inclusions and got this pretty nice 9 x 2 inch bowl (blank was > 4 in. To start). I like the grain pattern that's in the bowl. Had some rough outside that wouldn't turn or sand down, dunno maybe had a fungus there-- just little character.
See what you think.

Yep- prolly so.
Had it turned pretty thin so couldn't chase it.

Nothing like TURNERS ANONYMOUS! (TA) I am glad you are feeling better! When I pass through Texas again, I am going to get me some of that wood!

It does look like tear out. I coat it with 70/30 lacquer / lacquer thinner , let it dry and then sand it again. Most of the time it helps harden it so the sand paper does it's job. I do like the bowl.
