Elmers wood glue has worked many times for me. I've made at least a dozen small misc. bowls using this glue. Whether it was laminating layers together or gluing the blank to the waste block
I've always used Elmers for non turning joinery but a few vids I've see at youtube seem to indicate some problem with it, and a few blogs as well. Maybe you just can't make everyone happy?
Right! Ive used it in both areas. You just need to clamp the waste block to the blank with a kwik clamp on a bench top. Let it sit for at least 24 hours and it should be good. I've seen people use hot glue for gluing blanks to waste block.
