I stained and polyeurothened my wood. Despite using a conditioner it came out a blotchy horrid mess. I hate the look of paint. Has anyone every tried to gel stain over stain and polyeurothened wood? Thanks!
Applying a gel stain to the top of varnish is a common practice, it's called a glaze. Whether it will do what you expect would be speculative on my part, I'd suggest you try it (best on a piece of scrap) and see if that's the solution you're after.
