I made a bowl from a nice dry piece of mesquite and was in process of finishing the bottom when it decided fragment at the rim-- first 2 pics. Fortunately I had left juuuust enough for a tenon that the chuck could grasp. I went slow and turned the bad stuff out- was a little intense. Anyway the result is this nice 7 x 3.25 in. bowl, and oh yeah--- there's inlay that I didn't want to waste.
