I wanted to find a group that had my same interests. I am in the Jet Users group but I need to find out about another tool in my shop.
I have a Royobi AP12 surface planer. After a long time between uses, I needed to do some planing. To my surprise, there was a lot of chatter while cutting and a ridge in the work. I inspected the blades to discover one had broken into three pieces. OK so I'll change them. When I looked to find my replacement blades I found I had already changed them once and my first set was returned to the package. No big deal, I'll just purchase a new set.
To my surprise the price of these blades went from $22.00 when I bought them before to almost $70.00. Here is my question, is the AP12 obsolete and is it going to be harder and more expensive to get blades or did I just hit a sale on my original purchase?
