A newbie here, I appreciated all the pics and advise ya'll give. My question is this.
When putting a finish inside bowls, I get streaks in the finish. What is your recommended way to apply
said finish.? I have used cloth and still get streaks. Any ideas what I can do?

What finish are you using? Sure they're streaks and not tool marks? Pics would help.

Do the streaks look like "dry patches" where there's no finish on the wood?

I sometimes find that I have to put 4 (or more) coats on before the whole surface looks like it has a uniform coat of the finish, especially if the wood is a bit punky or there is very open end grain.

Or are the streaks like "legs" in paint that's put on too thick?

Note that many thin coats is always better than a single thick coat -- it can help to have a second cloth (clean and dry), after you apply a coat of finish wait a couple of minutes then rub off the surplus with the clean cloth.

Wait till it's fully dry before applying the next coat.

If you can see'em when the bowl is spinning, most likely tool marks-- that's what it's been with me.
