need to know the best way to finish large slabs. I am working on some slabs that I cut from a 600 year old spruce that I dug out of the ground during an ecology cleanup on some property. the tree survived 2 fires and has some cracks that I want to fill but keep visible.

Epoxy is the best thing I've found to fill cracks. I like to dry the slab completely before I epoxy the cracks, it seems to work better.

as far as oil vs. urethane etc, Are you going to put the finished product inside or outside?

finish on slabs

I would agree with the epoxy for filling the cracks. I was considering West Systems because of my boat building background. if there is some better system I would appreciate the advice. the tables will be inside tables so the final finish should be suitable for dining tables.
