Ive been working with a lot of walnut recently and have noticed that the scratches in darker woods seem so show up easier than in lighter woods. As a result I have been taking the sanding up to 600. I even took one bowl up to 1200. WOW what a finish that leaves. I'd probably do every piece like that if it weren't for the fact that the wood is so smooth it wont even take in the oil from your hands:furious: Too good to be true. I really like the texture and look of the highly sanded pieces but I think ive gotta put some kind of finish on there to ward off these fingerprints. I was thinking a super thin coat of poly or possibly some wax. Anybody else have this problem and what do you typically do to remedy it? happy turnin,
Bond
