I have a Craftsman scroll saw that I want to be able to control motor rpm. Has anyone taken the control board out of a variable speed drill, jig saw, router, etc. and wired it in to something like a scroll saw? I am trying to do this on the cheap and wondered if anyone has do something similar to this. Mainly as a challenge, but also because I want to slow down my scroll saw to do some extremely intricate stuff. At least intricate for me with a scroll saw. Thanks in advance.

Maybe you can use this

It may work with the motor in your scroll saw, if not it will definitely work with a single speed router. I would think the "computer boards" in different tools may not be compatible with your motor, but at the risk of burning one out, you can experiment.

That speed control is made to work with a universal motor. As far as I know most scrollsaws have induction motors. I don't know for sure but I doubt this combination will work. All the other tools the OP mentioned also have universal motors so I belive there is little chance this will work. Single fase induction motors are generally complicated to speed control.
