Hey everyone,

Hope you all had a great day.
Small introduction. I'm a real newbie at the whole woodworking business. All I did so far is building a simple stand for my projector. I don't have too many tools yet to build complicated things but I'm eager to learn.

Now I am looking at building a dressing table for my girlfriend. I am thinking of something simple. A table, with some drawers, shelves and a mirror.
Looked around for inspiration and these are the ones that I felt I like and might not be too difficult for me:

or something like this:

or even:

kind of like something modern like this also, but this is probably way more difficult:

I would appreciate if you guys would give me some pointers or preferably even blueprints to something similar. I am happy to receive any other recommendations if you have some.
I am living in London right now so I would buy all the materials in a local D&Q (although you can recommend good places to buy materials also).

Thanks you in advance in any help you can provide.

We could advise you better if we knew what tools you have. Also, drawers may not be the best newbie project. You might consider buying pre-made drawers to which you could attach your own front to match the rest of the piece.

good points.
Just a little more about me then.

Living in London in a rented apartment. Because of this I don't have access to sophisticated workplace. Its mainly just the living room. So far I haven't done much with woodworking I just starting to look into it after I made a projector stand for my bedroom (https://scontent-b-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn2/1150390_626533737376966_875822168_n.jpg). That little project got me interested in what more can I do.
My girlfriend was saying it for some time that she wants a dressing table and I thought it would be a good opportunity to learn more.

For tools its pretty basic.
I have a powerdrill that also have an attachment with sandpaper. Probably not the same as a proper sander though. Have standard drills, not wood specific. Screwdrivers yes, metal rule yes, but not any of the sliding bevels or marking gauges etc. Hammers, screws, nails, hand saw, wood glue, sandpaper. BUT I'm willing to invest into more tools if necessary. But only to an extent what I can use indoors.

Because of this I would probably look at the first link I posted. It seems easy enough. Using veneered chipwood with bowel joints don't seem too complicated. You might be right about the drawer though. It might be easier to get something pre-made.

So far I haven't found any plans or blueprints that would be similar but maybe I wouldn't need it anyway.

What do you think? I know that I may need to have the chipboard cut at the place which make the whole think a little bit to an IKEA furniture level. But for a starter project I thought its still ok. :)

I would sugest you start with modifing something, like the green one you linked to. A bookcase that you add the drop downdesk and organizer to, it would give you a chance to be creative and origanal without having to focus on the carcaus build. A jig saw a straight edge some screws and paint. All can be done in a small space
