I wanted to know if anybody in here user the dowelmax and if so do you have pictures of projects you accomplished ?
I am thinking about getting it and I want to know if i I heard about it is true... too bad it is a little expensive....
I just looked it up. It looks beefy and has a lot of precision. However, for the price you can get a domino or biscut machine. For that much I'd also look into mortising machines. I've always liked the woodrat (but don't own one yet). With a woodrat you've got mortising and dovetails. I'd also look at mortising machines or attachements for a drill press. In short you can get more speed and keep most of the precision or you can get more vercitility for the same money.
It's a nice jig from what I've seen, but I agree that the price is too high when there are better joining methods out there. I would get the beadlock instead. You can use it as a doweling jig, or use it the way it's intended, for tenon tenon joinery.
