I am curious ... is there any interest in Douglas Fir workbench tops? I would be happy to make those for folks, in whatever thickness and length/width you want, up to 16 feet long.

I would make them by ripping 2x DF and laminating the ripped pieces together.

I could also make them out of Oak, Poplar or Maple (not hard maple), or a combination of them if desired. Those would most likely be based on 3/4" thick stock, but I might be able to source some thicker.

Let me know.

how do you make them?

Other than by "ripping 2X DF and laminating"...

That is the easy part and most folks here would not have a problem doing that by them selves on their own equipment, unless I'm missing the part about surface planing and wide belt sanding to insure they are dead flat and smooth....
Not raining on your Parade, but what do you offer that is not available to most other woodworkers?

Shipping would probably be a bugger also...I donno?

Yes, making sure they were flat and smooth would have to be part of the deal.

I guess what I would be providing is the convenience of not having to do it yourself.

And you are right ... shipping would probably be expensive.
