If your that diligent cleaning the glue off I would expect the glues stains would be small. I think all of us get one from time to time. I think it's easier when your staining and you find a spot, color it with a touch up marker and finish over it.

Using mineral spirits is only one option. It works well but it takes quite a while for the mineral spirits to fully evaporate from the surface. This means that finishing work is delayed.

Naphtha and alcohol will work as well and will fully evaporate much more rapidly allowing you to get back to work.
