I picked up this Delta Milwaukee bandsaw today, my first and only bandsaw, and have a couple of questions. In the 3rd image you see the gap between the cover plate and the body? Is that natural? Dust escape? The 4th image is the plug for the motor. Wtf is up with that, what I assume is some sort of ground wire?

The cover doesn't fit tight on mine either, guess it is to let the sawdust out

That plug is an old old one looks like they would have connected the wire (ground) to the screw on the face plate of the receptacle hoping it was grounded.all you need to fix it is a new plug, the wire sticking out og the old plug would go to the green screw in the new plug

When that saw hit the market machine dust extraction was a broom and dust pan.:smile3:

As for the plug just replace it as suggested.

On another post we were talking about weak trunnions on the newer Deltas. Yours looks like it might be made of cast iron. Strong.

Definitely cast iron. It's a beast. I was surprised to find it needing little to no set up.

Dust pan and broom? The good ol' days! Replace the entire cord and plug.

I bought that same saw many years ago with the 6" riser, hooked it up to a real 2 HP motor and cut corbels out of 8" thick cedar without missing a beat, it is a work horse.
