Hello, I am looking for a good quality table saw. Ideal usage is around the house building projects. Very little experience, but work with my hands and willing to learn. I came across this table saw: http://inlandempire.craigslist.org/tls/4255202571.html The seller is asking $500. Is this a quality saw and a good price? Thanks!
It's an ok saw.....honestly for me I'd buy a ridgid 4512 or craftsman 21833 first for 500 bucks. Maybe even the new delta at lowes.

350.....with the unifence I'd probably be more interested.

There's a 3 hp craftsman (really only 1.5 hp) with an align a rip fence and grated wings listed on the same board for 375....I'd try and get that for sub 300 first.

It's a good saw and it's got some things going for it....Unifence, mobile base, blade guard, extension, link belt, good condition, etc., but $500 is a little ambitious IMO. $400 is more realistic for an older style right tilt saw with no riving knife or warranty.

I like the Delta linked above for $250 too....then there's these:
Ridgid 3650 - http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/tls/4238650839.html

Prices have shot way up in general in SoCal. Prices on unisaws are up at least 50% over what they were a year or 2 ago. $400 sounds fair to me for the contractor saw with extras, but no higher.

Sellers seem to have convinced each other of artificially high prices as they check other "optimistic" comparisons, often exceeding retail and not just on tools. Crazy market IMO. Just have to find someone in touch with reality.

That'd be a nice buy. Great fence, very good saw, left tilt, mobile base, extra wide rip capacity, blade guard, solid cast wing....replacing that table should be pretty simple. It's just another good Taiwanese contractor saw, so the "PM" logo means little in this case, but it's a solid buy IMO with those features at that price.

I'd vote for the powermatic.......while its Taiwanese made......its still a good saw. Not all saws built in taiwan are the same.
