Anyone have any recommendations on a good dado blade set? Sears and Lowes only carry the Freud SD208. I'm not going to use it very much and when I do it'll be on the radial arm saw. Is the Freud good for occasional use?
One of the best dado sets that I have found is the Freud 8" Super Dado. It cuts dados without tearout on just about any material.
One thing that you need to be careful with when using a dado on a radial arm saw is the tendency of the radial arm saw to climb-cut and draw the material into the blade when ripping. A negative hook blade will stop most of this as it cuts rather than tears at the wood (think of a cat that has claws and a declawed cat). The Freud Super Dado is a negative hook set.
