Erroneous is suggesting that a good starter project is a cutting board. If anyone has the time, could they maybe send a plan for me so I can get the jist of it.

The internet is your friend. Many sites with instructions, like this simple laminated cutting board.

A series of rips and glue-ups. Easier to start with than an end grain cutting board.
