Just for a change, I thought it would look nice to make a curved front edge on the new section of worktop for our kitchen. There is a door to the right of where it will go, so avoiding a corner will prevent some bruised hips too !

This is how I cut it. Roughed out with a jig saw (too big and heavy for the band saw) then this trick with the router. The radius is bigger than the width, so the pivot for the router compass is on a separate piece of scrap clamped behind the worktop.

It worked really nicely. Will install it and fit the edge banding today.

Yes, it's particle board with a laminate top, upside down here to avoid scratching the laminate with the router compass.

As you can see in the second photo, this is a small part of the kitchen, but which we felt was underused when we bought the house a few weeks ago. The previous owners had a small table there, but no work space and we felt we needed more. One of these days we'll refit the whole thing, but this is a good quick fix (or will be when I make the door for the cupboard !).
