Hello all,

I am currently a novice wood worker and am trying to learn the craft. I recently purchased a drill press and a saw, so other than some sand paper, these are pretty much my only tools.

What I would like to do is creat some finger spacing in a cylindrical piece of wood. I had thought about a lathe but the problem is it would create the indentation around the whole piece of wood. I am essentially making a gear shift for a car.

My question is: what tool will accomplish the making of these finger indentations? any and all help would be greatly appreciated. :thumbsup:
