Awhile back I picked up an old Craftsman drill press (103.23140). I did some small holes in wood. Recently I tried to drill a 1" hole thru MDF and it lugged down very badly. I stuck the Forstner bit in a bench drill press with a 1/3 HP motor and it cut well. So I tried a trick I read and grabbed the chuck with a gloved hand and it didn't take much of a squeeze to stop the motor. I'm new at this sort of thing but it seems to me that this motor is done.
Thoughts? Advice? I think I would like to keep the motor (rebuild it?) but again I've never gotten into this sort of thing.
Thank you,
Chuck Barnett
