I saw on TV , the guy that does restoration in Vegas put decals on a wagon and clear coated over it...he didn't say what type of clear coat or decal..help!
You might get by with something that doesn't have strong solvents, like a waterborne. That has the added advantage of not adding an amber color to the decals. I'm guessing anything with strong solvents is going to curl/melt/or some other bad thing to the vinyl and possibly the paint underneath them.
